Description

- The „World place name“s website is created for all those who need but don‘t know how to pronounce a place name of another country. The resource is built on the basis of the dictionary of the same title published by MELC. In 2014-2016 the whole content of the dictionary was digitized to create this resource.
- The resource aims at unifying the spelling of place names of other countries in the Lithuanian language, at recording the connection between the authentic and Lithuanian form, gives synonyms and variants of a place name.

Case study

The resource can be used by learners of Lithuanian as well as by students of various specialities ( geography, international relations, business) as reference material. It is useful in preparing presentations in Lithuanian on a certain country of the world, its exact location, its population and languages spoken, its prominent geographical features ( rivers, mountains, deserts). Students get additional practice in spelling , in declension of nouns, adjectives and numbers.

Guidelines

Alongside variants of place names, the resource gives additional information about location, continents and countries, local culture. The search system is user-friendly, the resource is very attractive and promotes interest. It is best suited for self-study.
