Description

This is the official site of the Latvian Language Agency; it offers a well-structured range of teaching and learning materials and tools. This is the best place to look for learning resources, though all the materials are presented in Latvian. In most cases students find this site on the advice of teachers of Latvian. There is guidance regarding the search for materials for learners of a certain age group. More specific thematic areas are covered under the 16+heading.

Case study

Depending on the teaching/learning context ( self-study, formal education, etc), the site can be used as a guide to the existing digital resources for Latvian.
In most cases, the site is presented to students during introductory sessions so that they could choose the most suitable resources. There are sufficient materials for learners of various language levels and various ages, including exchange students of universities and colleges. The existing linguistic material could be often used as supplementary alongside homework activities. The teacher could also offer it to those students who are willing to be exposed to the target language more often than others.

Guidelines

The site contains lots of various learning activities and tools, thus beginners will need teacher‘s advice and guidance. The use is complicated by „Latvian 0nly“ language of the site.
