Case study

This workbook meets the higher education students need of LSP terminology learning. It offers a valuable aid for non-native students of business and administration. The workbook may be used also in autonomous learning but it does not give specific guidelines for students on how to use the source and suitable ways of working on the terminology proposed. This is why it could be useful at first get to know the material with the teacher. The source is useful not only in language class but it can also be helpful for subject teachers who may support the foreign students in mixed classes in keeping up with the lesson by paying attention on terminology used available in the workbook and avoid unclear explanation improving this way the quality of communicating the lesson content. The source can be successfully used in combination with professional texts also in contrastive learning model through translation used as a pedagogical and communicative instrument in writing and in pairs and groups where students participate to enhance interaction.

This teaching source is very useful material on Finnish language for specific purposes not easily available for Finnish as a second or foreign language. Even if it is not in an technically advanced format, it offers a valid help for business and administration students during studies. The material allows different approaches for teacher and for students to work on and it may be exploited both online and offline, in classroom context and autonomously. It is easily adaptable for different kinds of courses and tasks. The material does not give any initial guidelines for learning activities so the teacher guidance to the use of the material can be useful.
