The application "Writing of foreign language names and surnames in Latvian" is an electronic multilingual dictionary of people’s names and surnames. Currently, the application contains information about the personal names and rendering variants, embedded rendering rules, and additional literature in 28 languages.
The entries in the dictionary provide the writing of a personal name in the original language, gender, type - name, surname, etc. - and other additional information depending on the original language of the personal name and the information provided in the rules of transliteration: for example, writing of the personal name in Latin transliteration, pronunciation, translation.
Languages represented: English, Greek (Modern), Russian, Finnish, Arabic, Croatian, Latin, Spanish, Armenian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Turkish, Belarusian, Italian, Norwegian, Ukrainian, Czech, Japanese, Polish, Hungarian, Danish, Chinese, Portuguese, German, French, Korean, Slovak, Swedish.

It has not been tested with the students, but it is easy to use this source.

When you type a query in the original language into the search engine, one or more results are found. Clicking on the arrow opens the tabs of the displayed personal name. The transliteration of a personal name appears in several entries, if the name can be the name of both women and men, the first name and the surname, or variants are allowed in the transliteration of the name. You can open the entry in a new tab by clicking the arrow in the upper-right corner of the entry. Both basic literature and additional literature are indicated in the entries.

You can also perform an advanced search by specifying the specific languages you want to search.
Queries can be typed not only in Latin but also in other alphabets by changing the keyboard input language.
