This assignment meets the needs of beginner level students learning Hungarian for Agriculture. This complex task sheet contains tasks for vocabulary expansion, grammar practice and speaking practice. The exercises contain the basic vocabulary for horticulture. These assignments are suitable for students for both independent and classroom use. One can easily turn this worksheet into an online assignment.

Case study

1. Describe how you would test it (choose this one only if the previous options are not possible).
It is unknown to me whether this resource has already been used. The assignment sheet is free to download, but there is no feedback on this website.
This task is suitable for students at A1 language level. The target group is participants in Hungarian language course. The language course is specifically for the technical language of agriculture. Because the exercise sheet contains the basic vocabulary, it can be used right from the start of the course. The number of participants in the group is not relevant. The tasks can be used both as partner work and group work.
The aim of the task is: the students should get to know the basic vocabulary of gardening that can use fixed collocations. The associated grammar is also practiced: conjugating verbs and using the imperative form.

Guidelines

Introductory activity / warmup: Use a picture of a vegetable garden to publicize the topic, with a word hedgehog on the board you can activate the previous knowledge and arouse interest in learning the topic.
Step 1: With the help of word cards and non-linguistic methods, you can present the nouns first, then the verbs. Please pay attention to pronunciation, spelling and meaning. Do the semantization phase with the help of task 1. You can further consolidate the vocabulary with short dialogues and assignment tasks.
Step 2: In the practice phase, please discuss the fixed collocations and please do numerous tasks with the new words:
Oral tasks: assigning pairs (word-picture), word boxes, chain exercises, explanatory exercises, short dialogues
written tasks: word tree, fill in the blanks, crossword puzzles
Step 3: Grammar: Repeat the previous knowledge about imperative with the help of frequently used example sentences. First form verbally then in writing the imperative form of verbs. Exercise 2.
Step 4: The students split up in pairs or small groups and with the help of the picture we used during the introduction, they make short dialogues.

Comments:
This task sheet meets the needs of students learning Hungarian as a foreign language at the beginner level. It is available in PDF format, but teachers can easily do an online assignment of it. The students are motivated by interesting tasks and the use of many pictures. In this case the language of study is Hungarian, but these tasks could easily be adapted to other languages. Monitoring students' own progress is not a challenge, as there is a key to the solution at the end. It is possible to adapt the content to the needs of the students and add more words and verb-noun connections. The specialist vocabulary enriches basic knowledge in agriculture and horticulture.
