Description

This is an app for phones, perfect for students of all levels who are not sure what the correct verb form is. The app may be used in all types of classrooms or when completing individual grammatical tasks.
Latvian Verbs is a comprehensive reference to verb conjugations of the Latvian language.

Some of the features of Latvian Verbs include:
• Ability to determine between the first, second and third conjugations
• Indicative, imperative, conditional, relative and debitive moods
• Active, reflexive and passive voices
• Simple and compound tenses
• Singular and plural persons
• Impersonal verbs, eg. snigt, līst, tumst...
• Recognition of third person verbs eg. vajadzēt, šķist...
• Irregular verbs (būt, dot, iet)
• Homonyms, eg. aust, dzīt, irt...
• User configurable in syntax, passive voice, verb classifications and interface language (English, Latvia)
• Optimised versions for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
• No Internet connection required

Case study

This is a phone app and is very helpful for language learners of all levels.
The most convenient usage of the app for the learner can be its initial application in the presence of a teacher: in case, some grammar terms cause understanding problems there is a teacher who explains to them unclear cases.
The programme can be used for different purposes, e.g. some activities can be given for homework. Let us say, indicate 2-3 verbs that students are expected to find in the programme, select their key forms and compare their conjugation systems. This task can be done with the verbs of the 1st conjugation, which are complicated and have a variety of subtypes: e.g. likt, tikt ir pirkt, vilkt. This programme could also be useful for the identification of the verbs ending in -ēt and belonging either to the 2nd or 3rd conjugations.

Guidelines

Latvian verbs of the 1st conjugation are generally problematic for language learners so it is very useful to have these verbs readily available in a handy app.
The greatest advantage of the app is that it works without an internet connection, it is enough to have the programme on your phone. The program provides translations of the verbs (into English or Russian, optional) the user can also choose the interface (either English or Latvian).

A very convenient way to check verb conjugation and see all possible forms of the verb in interest in one place. It is useful in the classroom and at home. It can also be used as a dictionary of verbs as the translation is provided.
