Description

The information system of the Lithuanian languages resources contains six monolingual dictionaries, 10 multilingual dictionaries, electronic files, 3 databases, an archive of Lithuanian dialects; also there are educational games. Thus, Lithuanian language users can find abundant varied Lithuanian in one place. The system is a user-friendly time-saving device. At the moment , there is work going on renewing the interrelated portal e.kalba ( https://ekalba.lt/)

Case study

1) Students of English philology who specialize in translation work a lot and regularly with the dictionaries provided on the Lithuanian Language Resources Information System page (the ‘Dictionary of the Current Lithuanian Language’, English-Lithuanian, Lithuanian-English, phraseology, synonymy dictionaries and others). I teach a course on text editing and during my classes and also in working independently my students use the System to search for the meanings of words n various dictionaries, they try to select the most suitable English and Lithuanian equivalents Lithuanian for composing or editing texts.
2) In my course on "Academic Communication I use the Information system with students of various study programs. Students use the Dictionary of the Current Lithuanian Language to analyze word meanings and the way they are used; they compare various forms and usages in terms of their correctness and appropriateness.

Comments:
The information material of the sources provided on the Lithuanian language resources information system page (eg bilingual dictionaries) can be used not only by Lithuanian speakers, but also by Latvian, German, English, Polish, Latin and Old Greek learners, the sources are useful for students, researchers and translators. Sources are readily available. They are not very innovative, nor are they essentially designed to test students' progress. On the completion of the e-kalba project, the interrelated platforms will provide more facilities for teachers and learners.
