Description* An interactive course intended for learning 10 languages, including the Latvian language, at B1-B2 levels. The interactive blended-learning language course has been created within the Erasmus+ project “Culture and Languages” (2018-2021).
The Consortium has created innovative learning material, an OER, applying the CLIL methodology (content-based language learning) comprising comprehensive blended-learning modules involving online learning material and material for group work/ pair work in chatrooms and F2F sessions to develop the key skills in a complex way.
The material is based on exploring the cultural heritage of partner countries, created in 10 EU languages (HR, LV, PL, Sl, CZ, RO, HU, + EN, DE, FR as the major foreign languages spoken in Europe) fostering the development of cultural knowledge and awareness, language competences and relevant 21st-century skills for adult learners.
The course is targeted at adult learners including those with certain obstacles to learning (geographical, social, economic, cultural, educational) depending on the country.
The complete course comprises 2 courses: 1) the English language course of 18 modules, 2) the culture course in 9 languages each comprising 18 modules. each module has been created as a unique story having an introduction, the main part, and conclusion/ending. A learner starts with a lead-in situation and does the tasks while he/she reaches the end of the situation that has some kind of a conclusion or an open question to stimulate more discussions on the topic. The learner learns a language through learning the cultural heritage of the partner countries.
