Description

In terms of content, the self-study tool e-Laipa is related to the set of printed teaching aids “Laipa” and corresponds to the description of Latvian language proficiency levels.
The self-learning tool is also easy to use on smartphones.
The Latvian language self-study tool e-Laipa is designed as an electronic application - a set of study materials, tests, tasks, and self-assessment materials. It is recommended to use it with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.
Latvian is the default interface language. It is possible to select English as the interface language.
The course corresponding to the A1 Latvian language proficiency level is available to everyone without registration and login. In order to be able to follow one’s progress in learning A1 level course and access A2, B1, and B2 courses, the user must register: https://elaipa.lv/UserGuide
The teaching aid includes a phonetics section, listening texts, and self-assessment tasks.
12 units:
1. Nice to meet you!
2. From all over the world
3. In the city and in the countryside
4. My house and family
5. On foot, by trolleybus, by plane
6. Daily work

Can be used as supplementary material to the A1 course as well as the basic material.
Suitable to adult learners.

Case study

Students are motivated to use the tool as additional tasks for self-study and to strengthen the material acquired and the language skills developed in the lessons. Teachers do not evaluate students' performance in this case. These are independent studies.
If there is a wish/need to assess the language skills, similar tasks may be included in a test done after the module acquisition.

Guidelines

Guidelines* A1 course is an OER source, for A2, B1, B2 courses registration is required. Guidelines with print screens are available on: https://elaipa.lv/UserGuide
The course is connected with the teaching sets of Laipa: https://valoda.lv/gramatas/pieaugusajiem/#close

Comments:
It is a standard tool, learners can use it for autonomous learning, teachers have no opportunities to modify it or monitor learners’ success, but learners can see their results and explanations of the mistakes. Positively, it has both pdf files with theory ad interactive tasks for learning.
