Description

As the main webpage of the entire project initiative suggests (https://www.keeletee.ee/index_en.html, click ABOUT THE PROJECT), KEELETEE is a B1-level course. Upon entering the KEELETEE main page, the visitor gets the entire content of the course listed in Estonian and arranged by topics. By clicking on the topic the visitor will be taken to the relevant material. Depending on the lesson, it may be a listen-and-repeat activity, a dialogue simulation, a video, or even a final test. Please note that there are only a few topics available in the open mode without the registration. Once you register (the registration is free, connection with your Google account is available), you will be able to access other lessons, too.

Case study

I have navigated through a number of pages of the course, starting from the main course page https://www.keeletee.ee/en/coursemap . Each new page opens smoothly and there are plenty of different activities all in all. In each page, a certain topic is practiced. The course materials are mostly formulated as an interactive activity, where the learner is asked to select the relevant picture, to complete the word, or to listen to the phrase and produce a reply using the prompt formulated in English or Russian. Please note that there are only a few topics available in the open mode without the registration. Once you register (the registration is free, connection with your Google account is available), you will be able to access other lessons, too.

Guidelines

1. go to https://www.keeletee.ee/index_en.html

3. choose the topic you want to practice, click on the relevant line.
4. you will get to the new page containing the relevant materials. At the bottom line, there may be additional buttons (e. g., OK) as well as arrows available, which help you navigate through the lesson.

Comments:
This is an excellent resource with a rich variety of activities. One notable advantage of the resource is that it contains effective simulations, where the learner is first asked to produce a certain phrase in Estonian (the source language of the phrase is either English, or Russian), and then, after speaking out their version (there is even a prompt to speak to one’s microphone given), the learner can click on the button OK and hear and read the expected Estonian version. This creates an effective training environment where assistance is immediately available. The resource may be harder to use for those learners who have not yet acquired the B1 level. But then they may first complete the beginner-level course offered by the same project and available at the main page (https://www.keeletee.ee/index_en.html, select the option on the left: BEGINNERS / KEELEKLIKK).
