Description

The tool is used to visualize stories ( narratives) about travelling and tourism. The programme helps connect words with pictures; it provides virtual travel all over the world from highest peaks to deepest precipices; one can speak about their impressions and travel experiences. The tool provides the views of various places in Lithuania that students visited or read about. Its interactive features allow to track one’s movement across Lithuania, to approach various places of geographical, social, industrial importance; to visualize densely and scarcely inhabited areas. All that makes the tool useful for students of geography, business, tourism, history and some other specialties.

Case study

The website is useful when you want to introduce Lithuania to students who have very little knowledge of the countryside, of its prominent geographical features, distances between inhabited places etc. Students also use the website to report on their travelling in Lithuania, on the visited places, hiking and other sport facilities. The website can be used to practice giving directions, naming prominent features of the landscape, indicating routes, roads and distances. Students aften use the tool to prepare individual tasks ( presentations, mini research, business plans).

Guidelines

The tool is free and easy to use. Its interactive facilities foster students‘ motivation and interest, they trigger curiosity and research. The tool can be used to get acquainted with a variety of Lithuanian landscapes, with prominent historical places, with population, transport system, agriculture and industry. Students can explore places of interest, winter and summer sports, other forms of entertainment and leisure time activities.
