PROFILE

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Loreta Chodzkienė graduated from Vilnius University in English Philology, did her internship at the University of Kent (UK), obtained a CELTA diploma at SIH, defended her Ph.D. “EU Pedagogues’ Intercultural Communicative Competence and Its Developmental Socio-educational Factors” (Social Sciences).
In 2017, she won a grant for a teaching visit at Gunma University (Japan). Currently, L. Chodzkienė has been running courses on Communication across Cultures, Academic Writing, and Intercultural Internship at the Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University. She focuses her research on language and culture relationship, methodology of foreign language teaching, including distance and hybrid teaching, also investigates the factors contributing to the development of a person’s Intercultural Communicative Competence, analyses International (incoming) students’ perspectives on the Lithuanian socio-cultural realia and conducts seminars for Lithuanian investors on intercultural issues.
L. Chodzkienė designed a study book on “What Should Every Student Know about Intercultural Communication?”, made presentations on her research findings at more than 25 international scientific conferences, and published 16 scientific articles, among them „Diversity in the Learning Experience in (Higher) Education (DIV.ED Guide book. ”ISBN 978-3-9503905-0-6 (co-author of the 6 ECTS Module and DIV.ED e-version) https://www.jku.at/zentrum-fuer-fernstudien/ueber-uns/kooperationen/forschungskooperationen/dived/.
L. Chodzkiene participated in a number of projects run by the Ministry of Education and Research (Lithuania), British Council, ECML, EC, and coordinated the following projects:
Socrates Lingua 1 project “Open to Every Citizen” (117083-cp-1-2004-1-LT-LINGUA-L1; 2004-2007); - “European Label” award; she taught Lithuanian to the project participants from Latvia (Riga), Estonia (Tartu), Spain (Tenerife), England (Surrey) and Italy (Arezzo), compiled 5 pocket-books of conversations in Lithuanian ("DO, About Me", "RE, My Day", "MI, My Town", "FA, My Country", "SOL, About Us, Europeans";
Erasmus IP “Modernising Europe by Innovating Teacher Training (MEITT)” (2009-2010);
ESF project “Development of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in Education” (VP1-2. 2-ŠMM-05-K-02-011; 2011-2013).
