Description

This resource presents 100 language lessons. Lithuanian language learners can use them while learning vocabulary, grammar or any other linguistic characteristics of Lithuanian. This resource is applicable in the classroom context as well as for autonomous learning. The important advantage of its usability is that a learner can choose a language of instruction out of a variety of languages: it could be their native language or any other foreign language they know. Further to it, the resource helps learners develop all their linguistic skills (reading, writing, listening, and even communicative) due to its resourcefulness.

Case study

The students of Erasmus+ exchange programme use the website of 50LANGUAGES to learn Lithuanian (I teach them the subject 'Lithuanian Language and Culture'). During my seminars this resource is used rather seldom (I provide students with many different handouts I've prepared myself, etc.); however, students can explore the 50LANGUAGES autonomously according to the given task: I indicate them which lesson to study in correlation with the topic of the lesson. This resource is also useful when revising the already studied topics, while preparing for a test or examination. It is also beneficial that students have an option to choose the language of instruction: either their mother tongue or any other language they know (according to my personal experience not all the students participating in mobility programmes know English well).

Guidelines

The free open access material can be used either by those who teach Lithuanian or those who decided to study Lithuanian independently.

Comments:
This website contains a large number of lessons of the Lithuanian language. They have easy access and the materials are liked by students. It is worth mentioning that students have the opportunity to redo more complicated tasks as many times as they are willing, and they can choose their native tongue as the language of instruction. The shortcoming of this webste is that not all the 50Languages resources (video recordings, tests) are applicable to the Lithuanian language.
